Former Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne has filed an anticipatory bail application before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court, seeking protection from arrest by the Bribery Commission.
The legal move comes amid concerns that the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption may attempt to detain him in connection with an ongoing investigation.
After reviewing the petition, Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali Jayatunga issued notice to the Bribery Commission to appear in court and present their submissions on July 18.
The court’s decision on this matter is expected to determine whether Senaratne can avoid potential arrest and remain at liberty while legal proceedings continue.
