R. Sridhar Appointed Sri Lanka National Team Fielding Coach

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has appointed R. Sridhar as the Fielding Coach of the Sri Lanka National Team, with his tenure running until the conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

A BCCI Level 3 qualified coach, Sridhar brings vast international experience, having served as the Fielding Coach of the India National Men’s Team from 2014 to 2021, during which he was involved in over 300 international matches. His appointment is expected to significantly enhance Sri Lanka’s fielding standards ahead of a busy international calendar.

Sridhar will work closely with the national squad during upcoming tours to Pakistan and England, before focusing on preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. His role will centre on improving athleticism, awareness, and consistency in the field.

Commenting on his appointment, Sridhar said Sri Lankan cricketers have always been known for their instinctive brilliance, resilience, and team spirit. He emphasized that his approach would focus on nurturing these natural strengths rather than imposing rigid systems, allowing fielding excellence to develop organically.

Sri Lanka Cricket noted that Sridhar is already familiar with the local setup, having conducted a 10-day specialised fielding programme at the National High Performance Centre earlier this year. He highlighted the importance of creating realistic, match-like training environments to further sharpen Sri Lanka’s traditional strengths such as quick hands, sharp reflexes, and fearless intent.

Sridhar’s appointment will be effective from 11 December 2025 to 10 March 2026.
