Queensland police charge four teens following Maserati joyride

[ad_1]

Four Queensland teenagers will today face court after allegedly stealing a Maserati from a Brisbane city house and leading police on a night-long chase.

A group of four teenagers have been charged by Queensland Police after allegedly stealing a Maserati Levante from an inner-Brisbane property and taking the SUV on a day-long joyride.

In a media statement, the Queensland Police Service alleged the four teens – two boys and two girls, each aged between 14 and 16 years sold – stole the $150,000-plus Maserati from a house in the Brisbane suburb of West End in the early hours of Thursday 23 November.

The group was later spotted at approximately 7:30pm that night in the Logan region of Kingston – approximately 30 minutes south of where the Levante was stolen – where a police helicopter proceeded to observe their movements.

At 1.30am, a ‘tyre deflating device’ was deployed on a street in Durack, which punctured at least one of the SUV’s tyres though the vehicle continued to travel along the Logan Motorway before eventually coming to a halt.

Despite the four teenagers’ attempts to flee the scene on foot, the police dog squad was able to locate each of the alleged offenders, who have since been charged for their involvement in the crime.

The charges range from unlawful use of a motor vehicle (one count each), entering a property without permission and stealing property.

The group are due to appear at the Beenleigh Children’s Court today.
