Professor Mimmie C Watts Announces Candidacy for Lake Caroline Ward

Professor Mimmie C Watts, a long-time resident of the City of Melton, has officially launched her campaign for Lake Caroline Ward in the upcoming council elections. 

With over 20 years of governance and teaching experience, Watts is committed to empowering the local community by advocating for accessible essential services, sustainable development, and fostering unity across political, faith, and cultural boundaries.

Having called Melton home for 20 years, Professor Watts has firsthand knowledge of the community’s needs and aspirations. “I believe that our community deserves better essential services, lower living costs, and enhanced support for businesses and youth,” said Watts. “Together, we can create positive, lasting change.”

Her campaign promises include advocating for the reduction of living costs, keeping rates manageable, and supporting community services and local businesses. 

She is also a strong proponent of improving youth services, making sure the next generation has the resources they need to succeed. 

Her extensive governance experience includes serving six years on the Lakeview Senior College Council, the Women’s Health West Board, and the Western Health Board. 

Watts has also chaired the Hume RAC, served as a Victorian Multicultural Commissioner, and worked tirelessly for women’s health services across the region.

Professor Watts transcends traditional political lines, prioritizing collaboration and inclusivity in her approach. 

She has been a strong advocate for local football teams, community engagement, and sustainability, recognizing the importance of addressing climate change for future generations.

Running as an independent candidate, Professor Watts aims to be the voice of the people, ensuring that everyone in the Lake Caroline Ward is heard and supported.
