Professional poker player Pongrass rolls dice on Cosmo penthouse after $11.4m record at auction

[ad_1]

7F/22 Knox St, Double Bay, has a $9m guide — considerably cheaper than its neighbour that sold for a building record of $11.4m at auction on Tuesday night.

A penthouse in Double Bay’s Stamford Cosmopolitan has sold for $11.4m — a record for the building — and now professional poker player Tom Pongrass and his wife, Jo, are rolling the dice on theirs.

Unit 7D/2-22 Knox St, which records show is owned by the Adams family, was highly desirable for downsizers with its 274sqm of living space and had two parties fighting over it at Damien Cooley’s auction rooms this week.

Sales agent Julian Hasemer said bidding opened at $11m — the price guide — and it was all wrapped up after four more bids of $100k.

High-tech home sells for $30m

7D/22 Knox St, Double Bay sold for a building record of $11.4m at auction on Tuesday night.

It has 274sqm of living space.

The Adams’s had owned it since 2014, paying $3.8m, and they’d worked with interior designer Melissa Collison Interiors to create a stunning haven with state-of-the-art features.

Yet the Pongrass penthouse at 7F is arguably a better buy, despite being a slightly smaller 230sqm, but in the north-east corner and superbly renovated by Poppy Tzaneros’s POCO Designs.

The Pongrass penthouse at 7F/22 Knox St, Double Bay is slightly smaller but has been renovated by Poppy Tzaneros’s POCO Designs.

It’s also in the highly desirable north-east facing corner of the building.

It has a price guide of $9m in an expressions of interest campaign via Hasemer in conjunction with Highland Double Bay Malouf’s David Malouf.

The Pongrass’s bought theirs for $2,755,010 in 2013.

Apart from being a poker player, Tom Pongrass’s family company, Pongrass Communications, owns Websdale Printery.
