Professor Ruwanthi Perera has been appointed as the 25th president of the Perinatal Society of Sri Lanka at a ceremony held on Friday (02) evening at The Grand Maitland Hotel in Colombo, under the patronage of Health and Mass Media Minister Dr Nalinda Jayatissa.
Addressing the event, the minister said maternal and perinatal healthcare professionals play a crucial role in strengthening Sri Lanka’s healthcare system, particularly amid ongoing challenges. He stressed the importance of improving maternal and neonatal care standards nationwide and building a resilient and equitable health system.
The ceremony, held under the theme “Beyond Survival: Thriving with Advanced Maternal and Neonatal Care”, was attended by Director General of Health Services Dr Asela Gunawardena, former society president Dr Harendra Dissanayake, WHO Representative in Sri Lanka Dr Rajesh Sambhajirao Pandav, and members of the Perinatal Society of Sri Lanka.
