Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya to Attend Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women in China

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya will visit China from October 12 to 15, 2025, to participate in the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism.

The international forum, jointly organized by China and UN Women, will be held in Beijing under the theme “One Shared Future: New & Accelerated Process for Women’s All-round Development.”

During the event, Prime Minister Amarasuriya is expected to deliver a keynote address emphasizing gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the importance of global collaboration in advancing women’s development across all sectors.

In addition to her participation in the conference, the Prime Minister will hold high-level bilateral meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, aimed at strengthening Sri Lanka–China relations and exploring new areas of economic and social cooperation.

The visit underscores Sri Lanka’s continued commitment to promoting women’s leadership and enhancing international partnerships in support of inclusive and sustainable growth.
