Prassanna stands as a beacon of innovation and excellence in the fashion industry, with a
remarkable journey that spans across continents and accolades. One of the highlights of his
illustrious career is being the only Sri Lankan ever invited by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in both Mumbai and Delhi to deliver a guest talk in fashion. Prassanna’s efforts to elevate Sri Lankan designers have not gone unnoticed, as he has been instrumental in taking them to the Global India Couture Week (GICW), one of the biggest fashion platforms in India, where their talents have shone brightly. He is the only corporate trainer in Sri Lanka who got invited to meet His Majesty King Charles III. 2011, he became the first Asian to serve as a judge for the Mr. Earth worldwide pageant.
Prassanna’s foray into the fashion world began humbly. As a young writer for magazines, he was tasked with covering fashion stories. It was during these early days that he recognized the industry’s need for guidance and branding. This realization spurred him to action, and in 2012, he clinched the British Council’s Young Creative Entrepreneur Fashion and Design Award, triumphing over 245 applicants across 27 creative industries. The prize—a two-week, fully sponsored study trip to London—opened new vistas of learning, networking, and inspiration. At just 26, Prasanna became the world’s youngest winner in his category, setting a precedent for aspiring creatives. In 2017, he founded and launched the Colombo Fashion Council.
Beyond fashion, Prassanna is a dedicated corporate trainer through his Ultima Training Company, having trained over 12,000 individuals. With over 10 years of experience in training and management consulting, he has served many corporates in Sri Lanka. His passion for empowerment led him to establish “Make It Happen Global,” a non-profit organization that provides free seminars to women and children in rural villages. This initiative earned him a place among the Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Sri Lanka. He is also a visiting faculty member at both state and private universities in Sri Lanka. Winner of many awards since 2012, including the prestigious awards such as the Young Creative Entrepreneur of Sri Lanka 2012, Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Sri Lanka 2016, Global Peace Ambassador Award 2017, and Training Leader of Asia 2018.
Looking ahead, Prassanna aims to expand Ultima’s presence globally and forge more international collaborations in fashion. His vision includes providing Sri Lankan designers with more platforms to showcase their talent on the world stage. With upcoming projects in both corporate training and fashion expansion, Prasanna continues to inspire and lead with a forward-thinking approach.
