Pope Leo XIV has expressed the Vatican’s heartfelt solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka who have been affected by the recent disaster, according to Rev. Monsignor Roberto Lucchini, Chargé d’Affaires of the Vatican Embassy in Colombo.
Rev. Lucchini revealed that the Pope instructed him to convey his deepest condolences to all those suffering during this difficult time. The Holy Father also assured Sri Lanka of his spiritual support as the nation confronts the challenges of recovery.
According to Rev. Lucchini, Pope Leo XIV urged the Sri Lankan people to remain steadfast in faith and hope as they work toward rebuilding their communities in the wake of the disaster. He added that the Pope’s message was one of compassion, encouragement, and unity, emphasizing resilience in the face of hardship.
