PM Modi to Visit Bengal for First Time Since Operation Sindoor; To Launch City Gas Project

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bengal on Thursday, marking his first trip to the state following Operation Sindoor. Ahead of the visit, the PM intensified his political offensive against Trinamool Congress (TMC), highlighting the public’s frustration with corruption and poor governance, while praising the widespread appreciation for NDA government initiatives in West Bengal.

Modi, who is arriving from Sikkim, will reach Alipurduar after 1 PM on Thursday, where he will address a BJP public meeting. In a post on X, he wrote, “Over the last decade, the various schemes of the NDA Govt have been greatly appreciated by the people of West Bengal. At the same time, they are tired of the corruption and poor administration of the TMC.”

During his visit, Modi will also lay the foundation stone for a Rs 1,010-crore City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts. This project aims to provide piped natural gas (PNG) to more than 2.5 lakh households and 100+ commercial establishments, along with establishing 19 CNG stations to serve vehicular needs. The project is expected to generate jobs and contribute to regional economic growth.

BJP West Bengal President Sukanta Majumdar confirmed that after the rally, Modi will travel to Patna. Meanwhile, local BJP leaders, including Manoj Tigga, have called for infrastructure development, including an airport at Hasimara under the UDAN scheme, a stadium, and a super specialty hospital in Alipurduar.
