Canada will be led into the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics by two of its gold medallists. Moguls skier Mikael Kingsbury and ski-cross star Marielle Thompson were named flag-bearers for the opening ceremony, the Canadian Olympic Committee confirmed.
Kingsbury, 33, won Olympic gold in 2018 and silver in 2014 and 2022, and is widely regarded as the greatest moguls skier of all time with nine world titles and 100 World Cup victories. Thompson, also 33, captured Olympic gold in ski cross in 2014 and bounced back from injuries to remain a top contender, winning a World Cup bronze earlier this year.
Both athletes praised the honour, noting their long-standing camaraderie and shared journey in winter sports. The opening ceremony will take place on February 6 at Milan’s Stadio San Siro, while their competitions are scheduled for February 12, 15, and 20.
