Gen Z fashion icon and pop-punk it-girl Olivia Rodrigo is always bang on and never misses a beat when it comes to poetically relatable lyrics and navigating womanhood. And speaking of bangs, she just literally debuted her new blunt baby bangs in the new “Obsession” music video, and of course we’re obsessed.
ICYMI: The pop star kicked off her worldwide GUTS tour in Palm Springs on Friday, February 23 at Acrisure Arena. On the 19th, mid-concert at the United Center in Chicago, Rodrigo announced the deluxe version of GUTS, called GUTS (spilled). And today, March 22, Rodrigo released a new song called “So American” alongside releasing her new music video for “Obsessed.”
Setting the scene for her new music video – the opening reads, “All of his exes & Olivia Rodrigo present obsessed.” Pan to a hotel conference room with a sign above the door reading “—’s Exes Annual Ball” and a room full of pageant queens wearing white gowns and sashes that read: “Miss Thought She Was the One,” “Miss Freshman Year,” “Miss Put Him in Therapy,” to name a few. Enter Rodrigo. She’s wearing a black lace and tulle off-the-shoulder gown and a sash that reads “Miss Right Now.” And right now, all we can focus on is her new baby blunt bangs! Stylish, short, and uneven, the baby blunt bangs are framed by two braids. Dare we say it, they even give slight vampire vibes. And not only are the bangs bangin’, but the look is in line with Rodrigo’s signature punk aesthetic as well as somehow being a beauty pageant queen appropriate.
Lest we forget, this isn’t the first time Liv’s rocked bangs. In 2022, at her first Grammys afterparty, Rodrigo debuted her fluttery bangs, and in 2023, at the Met Gala, she channeled Audrey Hepburn’s glam with her micro bangs. In spilling all her GUTS, we cannot wait to witness more drama and hair transformations by the trendsetter. In the meantime, we’ll be rewatching the new music video.
