Large regions across north, central, and eastern India are expected to witness a significant drop in temperatures over the coming days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting ongoing cold wave and cold day conditions in several states.
The IMD bulletin predicts that minimum temperatures could fall by 2–3°C across Northwest India over the next four days, while a similar decline is expected in parts of central and eastern India during the next two days.
Cold wave conditions are likely in isolated areas of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, East and West Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand from January 6 to January 10. Some regions of Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab may also experience cold wave conditions during this period.
Meanwhile, East Rajasthan is expected to see cold day to severe cold day conditions in isolated pockets, while areas in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and West Bengal are likely to experience cold day conditions. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and stay warm as the chilly spell continues to grip these regions.
