New Zealand Defeats India to Win ODI Series

New Zealand Secures Historic ODI Series Win in India

New Zealand recorded their first ODI series victory in India, defeating the hosts by 41 runs in the decisive third match in Indore.

After losing early wickets to slip to 58-3, the tourists were rescued by a record partnership between Daryl Mitchell (137) and Glenn Phillips (106), who added 219 runs for the fourth wicket. Their efforts helped New Zealand post a formidable 337-8. Captain Michael Bracewell contributed an unbeaten 28 to boost the total.

India’s chase was led by Virat Kohli, who scored a record-extending 54th ODI century (124), but successive wickets from Zak Foulkes, including the dismissals of Harshit Rana and Mohammed Siraj, stalled the innings. Kohli was eventually caught by Mitchell, and India were bowled out for 296 in 46 overs, handing New Zealand a 2-1 series victory.

The two teams will next face off in a five-match T20 series starting 21 January, ahead of the T20 World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, which begins on 7 February.
