President Dissanayake Visits Nuwara Eliya to Launch Central Province “A Nation United” Campaign
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is in Nuwara Eliya today (February 11) to inaugurate the Central Province segment of the “A Nation United” national initiative, the President’s Media Division (PMD) announced.
As part of his visit, the President will also attend a series of events across the region. The campaign aims to tackle the country’s illicit drug problem, which has been identified as a pressing social issue in up-country communities.
The initiative seeks to protect communities from the threat of drugs through awareness programs, social support, and economic development efforts, engaging all relevant stakeholders in a coordinated approach, the PMD said.
The Nuwara Eliya programme will additionally honor 62 police officers who have actively contributed to drug-related raids, recognizing their efforts in combating the menace.
