Nestle issues global recall of some baby formula products over toxin fears

Global food giant Nestlé has recalled several batches of its infant and follow-on baby formula after identifying a potential safety risk. The affected products may contain cereulide, a toxin produced by certain bacteria that can cause symptoms such as vomiting, nausea and stomach pain.

The precautionary recall applies to products sold in a number of European countries, including the United Kingdom and parts of mainland Europe. Nestlé stated that no confirmed cases of illness have been reported so far, but the decision was taken to protect consumer safety.

Parents and caregivers have been advised to check batch numbers carefully and avoid using the recalled products. Nestlé has apologised for the inconvenience and assured consumers that all other products on the market remain safe. Health authorities have encouraged anyone with concerns to seek medical advice.
