In a remarkable display of regional solidarity, both India and Pakistan have deployed aircraft to support Sri Lanka’s ongoing Search and Rescue (SAR) and disaster relief missions as severe flooding continues to impact communities nationwide.
Two Mi-17V5 helicopters of the Indian Air Force arrived in Sri Lanka recently with essential Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) supplies and personnel to reinforce ongoing operations. In addition, two Chetak helicopters from INS Vikrant, carrying Sri Lanka Air Force personnel, have joined SAR missions across affected areas.
The Sri Lanka Air Force also confirmed that a Harbin Z-9 helicopter from Pakistan Navy Ship Saif conducted aerial surveillance over flood-affected regions, extending crucial support to rescue and relief efforts.
These deployments underscore the strong regional cooperation and rapid assistance extended to Sri Lanka during this challenging period.
