A contemporary salon brand offering fresh hair styles and beauty treatments, with a rich history that ties us to the very roots of the hair and beauty industry in Sri Lanka.
Nayana Karunaratne, a prominent figure in Sri Lanka’s beauty and fashion scene, is not just a beautician and fashion designer; she’s a trailblazer. Founder of Salon Nayana, established in 1980, and the Sri Lanka Association of Hairdressers And Beauticians (SLAHAB) in 1996, Karunaratne has left an indelible mark on the industry.
Today, Salon Nayana, under Nayana’s ownership, boasts ten branches across Sri Lanka and India, with the first overseas establishment opening in Chennai in April 2002. SLAHAB, initiated by Nayana’s vision, now comprises around 1,500 members, striving to elevate the profession of hairdressing to international standards in Sri Lanka, inspired by leaders like Jun Encarnacion of the Hairdressers and Cosmetologist Association of the Philippines (HACAP).
Karunaratne’s influence extends beyond borders. In early 2007, she conducted a training session with a live hair cutting demonstration in Karachi, Pakistan, sponsored by a collaboration between PHABA and SLAHAB.
Salon Nayana, synonymous with cutting-edge hair and beauty services in Sri Lanka, cherishes the loyalty of countless customers since its inception. With a presence in Sri Lanka’s capital and India, the salon embodies innovation, modern techniques, and traditional warmth—a testament to Nayana’s dedication.
Despite her entrepreneurial success, Nayana remains grounded, often tending to customers herself and sharing her expertise with staff. Her commitment to excellence stems from international training at prestigious institutions like the Sassoon Academy and Toni&Guy Academy.
After four decades, Salon Nayana continues to set the standard for global hair and beauty services, offering contemporary styles and techniques at competitive prices across convenient locations.
