Namibia have announced their 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with experienced all-rounder Gerhard Erasmus set to lead the side once again.
This will mark Namibia’s fourth consecutive appearance at the global tournament, reflecting the team’s growing consistency in international cricket. The African nation secured qualification after an impressive unbeaten run at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Africa Qualifier held in Harare.
Namibia topped Group A without a loss and followed it up with a commanding semi-final victory over Tanzania. In that match, half-centuries from JJ Smit and captain Erasmus helped Namibia post 174 for six, before the bowlers dominated proceedings. Smit and Ben Shikongo shared six wickets to restrict Tanzania to 111 for eight, sealing a comprehensive 63-run win.
The qualification campaign showcased Namibia’s increasing depth and balance. Nicol Loftie-Eaton emerged as a standout performer, earning the Bowler of the Tournament award after taking 10 wickets at an average of 6.40 and an economy rate of 4.92. In the final, Louren Steenkamp’s quick 40 off 27 balls, combined with a steady partnership with Erasmus, underlined the team’s growing maturity.
Namibia will be aiming to improve on their most recent T20 World Cup outing, where they managed one win against Oman via a Super Over. Encouragingly, continuity remains a key focus, with nine players retained from the 2024 squad, complemented by fresh inclusions that add depth and flexibility.
Namibia are drawn in Group A for the 2026 tournament, where they will face strong opposition in India, Pakistan, the Netherlands and the USA. The tournament will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
