Muslim Left Front Seeks Recognition as Political Party in Sri Lanka

The Muslim Left Front has officially applied for registration with the Election Commission of Sri Lanka, marking a significant step toward formal political participation and representation.

The Muslim Left Front has submitted its official application to the Election Commission of Sri Lanka seeking recognition as a political party, its General Secretary M.R.M. Faizal confirmed. The Front aims to promote the political rights of the Muslim community while advocating social justice, equality, good governance, and national unity.

According to Faizal, the movement has been actively involved in public welfare initiatives, rights-based advocacy, and social awareness programmes for several years. The application for party registration is described as a major milestone in strengthening political representation and giving a stronger voice to the Muslim community in Sri Lanka.

The party plans to focus on key policy areas such as youth political participation, education, economic development, women’s empowerment, and social equality. Its leadership has emphasised that the Muslim Left Front is committed not only to protecting the rights of Muslims but also to collaborating with people of all ethnicities and religions to uphold democracy and human rights.

The leadership further stated that the party aims to contribute to national unity and promote a peaceful and inclusive political culture in the country. If approved, the Muslim Left Front will operate under the cricket bat symbol.
