Modern treehouse encasing central deck among most-viewed homes of the month

[ad_1]

A striking Adelaide hills hideaway created by one of the state’s most renowned builders was the most viewed listing on realestate.com.au in February, and with its picture perfect surroundings it’s not hard to see why.

The spectacular four bedroom, two bathroom asymmetrical u-shaped home at 9 Glenside Road, Crafers is set amongst 2511sqm of picturesque forest.

Built by the award-winning Urban Habitats, the home’s design blends passive design principles including orientation and cross ventilation, as well as hydronic heating and double glazed windows.

“Urban Habitats over here in South Australia are the best builders in the high end and they are right on trend at the moment, so this [home] is one of the owners of Urban Habitat,” sales agent Arabella Hooper from Harris Real Estate Stirling said.

“It is architecturally designed and I think that modern barn style is all the rage and just being set into the forest that it’s in, makes it quite remarkable.”

A black Axon-clad facade, polished concrete floors, custom timber joinery, oversized doors, rainwater tanks, a sprawling central deck are among the highlight’s of the home.

The property is currently on the market for $2.7 million.

Here’s a round-up of the wow-worthy homes that captured attention across the country in February.

One-of-a-kind concrete mansion

In Victoria, a concrete masterpiece, which its sale agent aptly described as “not your regular home,” drew considerable online interest, ranking second place for the most online hits in February.

The four bedroom, five bathroom property at 9 Salmon Avenue, Essendon is now under contract, and it was advertised with an indicative asking of $5.7 to $6.2 million.

“It’s a one off,” sales agent Joe Zucco from McDonald Upton Essendon said.

“There’s no doubt that you won’t go around the corner and find another one.

“I think given the construction costs of such a home with the show stopping concrete and the glass, you will not be able to replicate that for anywhere near the cost.

“It’s basically one of Essendon’s premier locations as well.”

Designed by award winning FGR Architects, the six-year-old home’s long list of luxe features include a sprawling family area spanning almost 37.5m wide, marble finishes, a 15m lap pool and 12 person spa, full home automation, underfloor hydronic heating and a double garage with a Tesla charger.

Elwood home sells in just over a week

A heritage home with a striking contemporary extension in Elwood that was snapped up in a week and a half, ranked as realestate.com.au’s third most viewed listing in February.

The five bedroom, five bathroom home at 9 Bendigo Avenue, Elwood sold in the vicinity of $17 million, sales agent Sarah Case from RT Edgar Toorak said.

“It was a real gutsy house of concrete and strength and solidness,” she said.

The period features blending with the new created a lovely aesthetic attachment, she said.

Set on an impressive 1142sqm parcel of land, the striking extension was a three year process.

A lift, a travertine pool and spa, an eight car garage, as well as a basement “Mykonos” room with white formed concrete, a fully fitted bar and port hole style windows with views of the pool, are just a handful of the home’s luxe features.

Ms Case said the remarkable home would rank in her top five of most amazing properties she has sold in her career.

“It’s an iconic home that has been built that will be around for a long time,” she said.

Clifftop marvel in Victoria

Another residence that garnered plenty of online attention was a waterfront Mount Eliza clifftop estate at 4 Denistoun Avenue.

The grand five bedroom, seven bathroom residence is currently on the market via an Expressions of Interest campaign, with an indicative price guide of $18.5 million to $20.35 million.

Adrian Calcedo, Marshall White Mornington Peninsula director, said there was a limited amount of homes available along the cliff of Mount Eliza, and this property was probably the only one of such scale.

“The majority of the blocks there are usually 2000 to 3000sqm, and this one sits on double that, so a 6000sqm block,” he said.

“There are some substantial homes in that area, don’t get me wrong, but this would be the pick of them.”

When it last sold in 2017, it set a new price record for the locale and Mr Calcedo predicted it was set to do so yet again.

The palatial residence features a five star hotel style infinity pool, a glass pool pavilion, a tennis court with basketball hoops, multiple wraparound verandas, marble fireplaces, as well as formal and informal living and dining areas to both levels.

Grand manor in prominent locale

In affluent Toorak, a grand five bedroom, five bathroom European style mansion set across 3286sqm at 2 Lansell Road caught the eye of many onlookers.

Designed by acclaimed Melbourne architect Walter Butler, the expansive five bedroom home in exclusive Toorak was one of the most-viewed homes of the month. Picture: realestate.com.au

“It’s a big land size in a very prominent street in Toorak and when you’ve got places over 3000sqm in Toorak’s top three or four streets, with a façade like that with such beautiful gardens and mature trees –  they really do capture the attention of people,” sales agent Gowan Stubbings, from Kay & Burton Stonnington said.

Buyer interest in the home had been strong, Mr Stubbings said, and it is being sold via an Expressions of Interest campaign, with an indicative price of $27 million to $29.7 million.

“The future of this home could be a lot of prominent Melbourne families wanting to land hold it for access to local schools, which is always one of the big drawcards, in a trophy location,” he said.

Record breaking sale

In New South Wales, a six bedroom, five bathroom home at 3 First Farm Drive, Castle Hill broke several records for the suburb, according to sales agent Sara Anthony, from Century 21 The Hills District Castle Hill.

Sold under the hammer for $5,280,000, its listing stated that the home not only fetched the highest sale price ever at an auction in Castle Hill but also achieved the highest sale price for a home on less than 1000sqm in the suburb.

Ms Anthony attributed its sales success to the fact it was a well-built home with great attention to detail, and a good layout.

“Its location in Castle Hill, that particular pocket is known for school catchments, nice big blocks on very lengthy, wide streets, a prominent position and also just the campaign itself, the marketing, the presentation – the whole campaign ticked all the boxes.”
