Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, currently in prison over the human immunoglobulin procurement scandal, has tendered his resignation from the position of Environment Minister to President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The Daily Mirror reports that Minister Rambukwella’s resignation letter has been forwarded to President Wickremesinghe’s Secretary, Saman Ekanayake, and has been accepted by the President.
Consequently, the Ministry of Environment will now be under the purview of the President.
Minister Rambukwella, remanded until February 15th, is currently receiving medical care at the Prison Hospital.
