Mark your calendars for Sunday, March 31, as the Melbourne Drone Orchestra presents the second edition of the Norla Series. Set against the backdrop of the Norla Dome, this event promises an unforgettable evening of experimental music and sonic exploration.
Taking center stage is Dr. Sarita McHarg, hailed as one of Australia’s foremost sitarists. With a repertoire spanning traditional and classical Indian music, Dr. McHarg’s mastery of the sitar has graced ensembles across diverse genres, from psychedelic rock to world music collaborations. Audiences can expect to be mesmerized by the enchanting drone of her sitar, creating an immersive sonic experience within the sacred space of the Norla Dome.
Adding to the lineup is BBQ Haque, a fixture in the psych-rock scene, offering a rare performance that promises an exotic blend of instrumental garage-psych-bruit noise. Joining them are the debut performances of Ourobonic Plague, known for their beat-driven dronescapes, and Chloe Catastrophe, poised to captivate with their unique sonic expressions.
The event will take place at The Mission to Seafarers Victoria, located at 717 Flinders Street Docklands, VIC 3008 Australia, starting at 5:30 PM AEDT and lasting until 9 PM. Please note the special timing due to Easter Sunday.
