Manethree’s musical journey began at the tender age of seven, with her father introducing her to the piano. This early exposure ignited a passion for music that has only grown stronger over the years.
By the age of ten, she had picked up the guitar, initially learning through YouTube tutorials before seeking formal lessons to refine her skills. At eleven, she bravely shared her talent with the world by posting covers on social media, a practice she continues to this day.
Her father Ruwan Walpola, was the first influence, nurturing her early love for music by singing favorite songs together. Among the stars that inspired her were the legendary Celine Dion, followed by contemporary artists like Taylor Swift, John Mayer, and Ed Sheeran, who have shaped her style and fuelled her aspirations.
Navigating the Sri Lankan entertainment industry, Manethree notes a prevalent preference for beat band culture, characterized by powerful rhythms tailored for dancing—a vital source of joy and stress relief for many. Yet, she believes in the importance of diversifying musical tastes and promoting aesthetic education to broaden the appreciation for various art forms. This vision drives her to introduce and nurture more nuanced musical styles within her community.
