Bollywood actress Malaika Arora and her sister Amrita Arora’s father Anil Arora died by suicide. Reports stated that he jumped from the terrace of his Bandra residence around 9 am. The police are on site and investigating the incident. After hearing the news, Malaika’s ex-husband Arbaaz Khan rushed to the family residence.
Anil Arora, who worked in the Indian Merchant Navy, was known for keeping a low profile. He was of Punjabi Hindu descent from Fazilka, while Malaika’s mother, Joyce Polycarp, is a Malayali Christian.
Malaika previously spoke about her parents’ separation when she was just 11, describing her childhood as both wonderful and tumultuous. Reflecting on her upbringing, she shared, “I had a wonderful childhood, but it wasn’t easy. In fact, in retrospect, the word I would use to describe it is tumultuous. But tough times teach you important lessons too.”
Last year in an interview, she said, “My parents’ separation allowed me to observe my mother through a new and unique lens. I learned a rock-steady work ethic and the value of getting up each morning to do whatever it takes to become fiercely independent. Those early lessons are the cornerstones of my life and professional journey. I am still fiercely independent; I value my freedom and live life on my terms.”
The investigation into Anil Arora’s death is ongoing.
