Born into an illustrious artistic family on August 6, 1988, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Madhavee Wathsala Anthony has carved a unique niche for herself in the entertainment industry. With a legacy rooted in creativity and performance, Madhavee’s journey from a child artist to a celebrated actress, singer, and TV host is inspiring.

As the eldest child of Jackson Anthony, a versatile icon in Sri Lankan cinema and theater, and Kumari Sandalatha Munasinghe, a popular singer and actress, Madhavee was destined for greatness. Her father, Jackson, is renowned for his multifaceted contributions as a director, producer, singer, screenwriter, television host, novelist, columnist, lyricist, historian, and traveler. Her mother, Kumari, has also left an indelible mark on Sri Lankan cinema, theater, and television. Additionally, her uncles, Senaka Titus Anthony and Sudath Anthony, were prominent figures in the industry, further enriching her artistic lineage.

Madhavee’s education journey began at Holy Cross College from 1994 to 2003, continued at Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya, where she completed her O/Ls, and culminated at Visakha Vidyalaya for her A/Ls. In 2013, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Special Degree in Archaeology from the University of Kelaniya. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Tourism Economics and Hotel Management from the University of Colombo, showcasing her dedication to academic excellence alongside her artistic pursuits.

Her career took off at the age of six as an A-grade child vocalist at Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. She gained popularity through children’s programs like “Lama Pitiya” and “Handa Mama,” and her television debut was in “Esala Kaluwara,” directed by her father. As a teenager, she shone in the musical show “Hapan Padura,” which became a hallmark in Sinhala children’s programming.

Madhavee’s adult career includes notable roles in the film “Address Na,” directed by her father, and the critically acclaimed TV serial “Daskon,” where her performance earned her the Best Upcoming Actress award at Raigam Tele’es. Her subsequent roles in “Pali” and “See Raja” further solidified her reputation, earning her nominations for Best Female Singer and Best Supporting Actress. As a singer, her hits like “Oba Epa” and “Piyambamee” have resonated widely, showcasing her vocal talent.

Beyond acting and singing, Madhavee has contributed significantly as a research assistant and curator, working at the Sigiriya Museum and SAARC Cultural Centre. She has also served as a visiting lecturer for Tourism and Hospitality at Management Science University, underlining her versatility and commitment to cultural preservation and education.

Her marriage marks one month to Kasun Heenatigala, adds a dimension of resilience and growth. Her ability to balance personal challenges with professional achievements is a testament to her strength and dedication.
