MacKinnon Shines as Canada Defeats Austria 5-1 at World Hockey Championship

Nathan MacKinnon led the way with two goals and an assist as Team Canada stormed back from a sluggish start to defeat Austria 5-1 on Thursday at the IIHF World Championship.

Travis Konecny and Will Cuylle also delivered strong performances, each contributing a goal and an assist. Hockey legend Sidney Crosby added to the tally with a goal, while Bo Horvat and Brandon Montour each notched two assists.

Despite being outshot heavily, Austria took a surprising 1-0 lead into the first intermission thanks to a goal from Vinzenz Rohrer. However, Canada’s dominance took over in the remaining periods, securing a fourth straight regulation win and tying co-host Sweden atop the standings with 12 points.

Austria remains with just two points, stemming from an earlier overtime win and three regulation losses.
