One of Europe’s popular budget airlines has suspended flights to Dubai, citing geopolitical concerns and safety precautions, affecting passengers traveling to and from the UAE.
Transavia, a leading low-cost European airline, has confirmed the cancellation of all flights to and from Dubai International Airport until Wednesday, February 11, citing the current geopolitical situation in the Gulf region.
The Dutch airline, which operates as a subsidiary of KLM and is part of the Air France–KLM Group, stated that safety concerns over flight routes prompted the suspension. The airline added that it is closely monitoring developments and hopes to resume operations on the scheduled date.
Transavia’s main hub is at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, with additional bases across the Netherlands and France. Passengers affected by the cancellations will be notified via SMS and email, according to the airline’s official statement.
The suspension follows a series of precautionary flight disruptions by European carriers. KLM previously cancelled flights to Dubai on January 27 and 28, while Air France briefly suspended its services before resuming operations on January 24. Emirates also recently cancelled flights to several US cities due to severe weather conditions.
Affected passengers have been offered flexible options, including refunds, free rebooking for future dates, or switching to alternative destinations within 14 days of the original travel date. Additionally, passengers scheduled to fly to Dubai with Transavia until February 15 can rebook their flights free of charge.
The airline reiterated that passenger and crew safety remains its top priority as the situation continues to evolve.
