Largest Aquatics Event in History Coming to Dubai This March

The UAE Aquatics Federation has confirmed that the Dubai International Aquatics Championship (DIAC 2026) will be held from March 27 to April 6 at the Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai.

This edition is set to be the largest in the championship’s history, with more than 2,000 athletes from over 40 countries expected to compete. The event is officially sanctioned by World Aquatics, meaning all results will carry international recognition. DIAC 2026 will also serve as a ranking pathway for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, adding extra significance for participating nations.

The championship is organised in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council and operationally managed alongside Apex Sports Academy, the official technical and organisational collaborator. Competitions will cover multiple age categories, with all events conducted according to international standards.

For the first time, DIAC 2026 will introduce an official Record Programme, recognising achievements in selected 50m and 100m events across all four strokes. Athletes who set new DIAC records will be awarded financial prizes and official record certificates, adding an extra incentive for top performers.

The championship is expected to draw elite emerging talent and national teams from the Arab region, Asia, and Europe, further cementing Dubai’s reputation as a leading international destination for aquatics competitions in 2026.

Abdullah Al-Wuhaibi, Chairman of the UAE Aquatics Federation Steering Committee, highlighted the strategic role of DIAC in advancing aquatic sports in the UAE. “DIAC is more than a competition — it’s a global stage to nurture champions and showcase talent. This edition is set to raise both organisational and technical standards, with outstanding performances and potential record-breaking swims,” he said.
