People are losing their minds over a new phallic-shaped item that has just landed at Kmart.
The $5 product was photographed and posted online on Friday, with shoppers left scratching their heads over what it could be.
In a Reddit post titled “OK, didn’t expect to see this at Kmart today …” the user shared a photo of a pink cylindrical object packaged in a plastic box.
“Since when did Kmart start selling sex toys?” they asked, suggesting that the product held a likeness to a certain adult’s bedroom item.
“They really do sell everything at Kmart,” one joked.
“Only $5, not a bad price for a d*ldo!” another said.
While at first glance it may have appeared to be an object that belonged at a different kind of shop, the truth is that this new product is simply a candle.
The “Decor Pillar Candle” has just landed at Kmart and will only set you back $5.
“Bring a soothing vibe to your living space by lighting up this Decor Pillar Candle – an elegant addition to your home” the candle’s description states.
Back in June 2023, another innocent Kmart item went viral after a mum pointed out its likeness to an X-rated bedroom item.
She stumbled across the budget superstore’s “Soft Play Triangle” and noticed that it looked just like the $190 sex position wedge she’d been in the market for,Kidspot reported.
After purchasing the toy, she shared her discovering in the Mums on A Budget Facebook page, writing: “Kmart always comes out with the goods.”
She noted the bargain discovery saved her “over $100” and shared a picture of the product, which is designed for crawling, climbing, sliding and imaginative play for kids aged three-eight, alongside the adult item
The main difference between the two is the colour schemes, with Kmart choosing red, blue and yellow while the more expensive Liberator Microfibre Sex Position Wedge is a deep purple.
However, the dimensions are similar, with the Kmart object measuring in at 61 cm x 21 cm x 41 cm alongside the $190 adult wedge, sold on Lovehoney, which is 61 cm x 18 cm x 36 cm.
The adult product is designed to allow for a wider range of motion and to make certain sex positions more accessible.
Last year, another skincare beauty tool sold at Aldi was mistaken for something usually reserved for the bedroom.
Aldi had announced it was selling a range of products as part of an upcoming ‘Special Buys’ promotion – and one item has captured attention for all the wrong reasons.
The $19.99 Sculpting Facial Roller Set was noted for having a similarity to an X-rated toy in a post shared an Aldi Mum’s Facebook page.
But Aldi isn’t the only store facing this struggle, with Kmart shoppers also noticing the Anko brand’s mini hair remover had a phallic appearance.
“We can confirm that the vibrating Sculpting Facial Roller feels very, very good. On the face. Where it belongs,” an Aldi spokesperson told news.com.au.
“We strongly encourage customers to read the instructions to ensure they are enjoying the product as intended.”
News.com.au has contacted Kmart Australia for comment.
