King Salman bin Abdulaziz has enacted a broad set of royal orders introducing changes across several senior government and ministerial roles, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Thursday.
As part of the reshuffle, Khalid Al Falih was removed from his position as Minister of Investment and reassigned as Minister of State and Member of the Council of Ministers. Fahad bin Abduljalil Al Saif has been appointed as the new Minister of Investment.
The decrees also included key leadership appointments at major state bodies. Abdulaziz Al Arifi was named Governor of the National Development Fund, while Engineer Haitham Al Ohali will head the Communications, Space and Technology Commission.
In the judicial sphere, Dr Khalid bin Mohammed Al Yousef has been appointed Attorney General, succeeding Sheikh Saud Al Mujib, who will now serve as an Adviser at the Royal Court.
Additional changes saw Princess Haifa bint Mohammed bin Saud relieved of her duties as Deputy Minister of Tourism and appointed Adviser at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers. Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Saud was designated Deputy Emir of Madinah after stepping down as Governor of Taif.
Further appointments include Engineer Fawaz Al Sahli as President of the Transport General Authority and Prince Rakan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz as Governor of Diriyah.
In a separate royal directive, Sheikh Dr Saleh bin Fawzan bin Abdullah Al Fawzan was confirmed as Grand Mufti, Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars, and General President of the Presidency for Scholarly Research and Ifta.
