The global rise of K-pop reached a new milestone as Golden, the breakout track from the film KPop Demon Hunters, became the first K-pop song ever to win a Grammy Award.
Performed by the fictional group Huntr/x, the song claimed the prize for Best Song for Visual Media during the early portion of the ceremony in Los Angeles and is also in contention for Song of the Year.
The animated movie has been a massive phenomenon since its release, becoming Netflix’s most-watched film of all time with more than 480 million views. Its colorful, high-energy soundtrack also topped the Billboard charts, becoming the first film soundtrack to do so since Encanto in 2022.
The historic win highlights the growing influence of Korean pop music on the global stage, with several K-pop artists now recognized by the Recording Academy and featured among this year’s nominees.
