Former Union Minister and MP Jayant Sinha has expressed his surprise at receiving a show cause notice from the BJP, questioning his participation in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Addressing BJP’s Jharkhand General Secretary Aditya Sahu, Sinha clarified that he voted via postal ballot while overseas for personal commitments.
Sinha, the sitting MP from Hazaribagh, responded in a two-page letter, revealing his astonishment at the notice being made public. He explained his absence from election activities, attributing it to a lack of invitations from senior party officials and organizational meetings, especially since Manish Jaiswal was declared the BJP candidate for Hazaribagh.
In his detailed response, Sinha highlighted his public support for Jaiswal, including a congratulatory post on social media on March 8, 2024. He noted the absence of any communication from the party inviting him to participate in election activities, despite his willingness to contribute.
Sinha, who had announced his withdrawal from the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on March 2, stated that he had received explicit approval from BJP President JP Nadda to step back from direct electoral duties. He emphasized his continued support for the party’s economic and governance policies.
Sinha also recounted his efforts to show support for Jaiswal, including visiting his residence on May 2, despite not being able to attend the nomination rally due to a late invitation. He expressed disappointment at the public nature of the notice, which he believes undermines dedicated party workers and the party’s collective efforts.
Jayant Sinha concluded by stressing his long-standing loyalty and contributions to the BJP, advocating for direct communication to resolve such issues instead of public notices.
