The tiny kei car’s body kit is a more affordable version of the F40 kit which Liberty Walk introduced in 2023.
Japanese car tuning brand Liberty Walk has unveiled a Ferrari F40-inspired body kit for the Autozam AZ-1 kei car.
Revealed at the Tokyo Auto Salon car show, Liberty Walk’s AZ-1 looks to borrow inspiration from the Ferrari F40.
First reported on by The Drive, the body kit utilises AZ-1’s supercar-like shape and gullwing doors for the look – despite the Ferrari having traditional car doors.
At the front, the kei car’s nose mirrors the F40’s, including the front bumper, headlights, and guards.
Like Liberty Walk’s actual Ferrari F40, the AZ-1 features a pair of fender flares at the rear, which allow the wheels to match the widened track at the front.
The standard tail lights have been swapped out for four F40-style lamps, and a large rear wing looks to replicate the look of the F40 LM.
Beneath this wing is a rear bumper with a built-in diffuser, and three exhaust pipes.
Despite the bold new exterior, Liberty Walk has kept the AZ-1’s powertrain as standard, meaning it still uses a 657cc turbocharged three-cylinder engine.
This engine (which is shared with the Suzuki Alto of its time) produces 47kW and 85Nm, which is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.
Pricing for this Autozam AZ-1 kit starts at $US22,660 ($AU34,300) – not including the car.
Like most Japanese cars, AZ-1 prices have risen since Covid times, with one AZ-1 selling in Australia recently for $AU28,000.
