A Journey of Passion and Culinary Expertise
Yasiru Dasaman, co-owner of Jacksons Kebab, has a rich background in the culinary world, inspired by his father and grandfather. His journey began at Shine Café Bar and Lodge in 2008, where he gained hands-on experience in all aspects of restaurant management. By 2014, he had joined Elephant Corridor as a chef and later launched his own venture, the “Strike It” bistro at Dandenong Workers Club in 2018, managing a team of 15-20 employees.
Support from the Community
Despite the challenges faced during the pandemic, Yasiru and Gihan have continued to receive overwhelming support from the local community. “We’ve had a lot of events come through since our menu shift, including weddings, dinner dances, and birthday parties,” Yasiru shares. “Our customers are our biggest supporters, and we’re grateful for the love they’ve shown us.”
Looking Ahead: New Ventures in Sri Lanka
Yasiru is already planning his next venture in Sri Lanka, building on the success of Jacksons Kebab. While details are still under wraps, fans of his cooking can expect exciting developments in the near future.
