A curfew has been imposed across Sri Lanka, effective from 10:00 p.m. tonight (21st September) until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow (22nd September).
This decision, made by incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe, comes in anticipation of the release of the results from the 2024 Presidential Election later this evening.
The relevant Gazette notification has been issued under the Public Security Ordinance (Chapter 40), specifically under the Curfew Order, Section 16.
Authorities are urging citizens to adhere to the curfew guidelines to ensure public safety and maintain order during this critical period.
As the nation awaits the election results, the government emphasizes the importance of calm and cooperation from all citizens.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
