Sri Lankan-born pianist Shani Diluka, hailed as one of the finest pianists of her generation, will return to Sri Lanka for a much-anticipated concert with the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka on March 1, 2025. Known for her “winged virtuosity” (Classica) and described by the Suddeutsche Zeitung as someone who “masters the craft of music,” Shani has earned international acclaim for her deep artistry and technical prowess.
Born to proud Sri Lankan parents in Monaco, Shani’s talent was discovered early through a program initiated by Princess Grace of Monaco. This discovery led to her enrollment at the prestigious Paris Conservatory, where she graduated with top honors. She further honed her skills at the Lake Como International Piano Academy, under the guidance of legendary pianist Martha Argerich. Her career flourished, leading to collaborations with orchestras and artists like Natalie Dessay and Michel Portal, and performances at iconic venues such as the Philharmonie de Paris, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, and Vienna Konzerthaus.
Shani is the first pianist from the Indian subcontinent to sign exclusively with Warner Classics, releasing award-winning recordings praised by critics and publications worldwide. Her most recent project, based on Marcel Proust’s “The Search for Lost Time,” showcases her passion for French music’s golden age, continuing to capture the admiration of international audiences.
