India has temporarily eased export regulations on both basmati and non-basmati rice shipments to several European destinations, allowing trade without a mandatory inspection certificate from its export inspection authority, according to an official government notification issued on Friday.
The relaxation will remain in effect for six months and applies selectively across Europe.
Under the revised arrangement, the inspection certificate requirement will continue only for European Union member states, along with the United Kingdom, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.
However, all other European countries will be exempt from the requirement for the duration of the six-month period, effectively easing export procedures for those markets.
The move is expected to streamline trade flows and reduce administrative hurdles for exporters dealing with eligible European destinations.
