The Government of India has donated a shipment of essential drugs and dry food items to Sri Lanka, strengthening ongoing cooperation between the two countries in the health sector.

The consignment, which includes 17 essential medicines and over 14,200 kilograms of dry food, was officially handed over to Sri Lanka’s Minister of Health, Nalinda Jayatissa. The handover took place at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and was facilitated by the Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Dr. Satyanjal Pandey.

According to officials, the donation was made following a request from the Sri Lankan Health Minister, highlighting India’s continued support for Sri Lanka during times of need. The supplies are expected to contribute significantly to addressing shortages in the healthcare system and supporting vulnerable communities.

This assistance reflects the strong bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and India, particularly in areas of humanitarian aid and public health cooperation.
