Indeewari 2024: A Beacon of Hope for Educational Equality

The University of Peradeniya stands as a beacon of educational excellence in Sri Lanka, and its Faculty of Agriculture continues this tradition by organizing the annual event, Indeewari. Established in 1990, Indeewari has become synonymous with supporting education through its Needy Students’ Scholarship Fund and the “Reli Bimen Sama Bimata” program.

Celebrating its 31st edition this year, Indeewari remains steadfast in its mission to assist undergraduates facing financial hardships within the Faculty of Agriculture. The Needy Students’ Scholarship Fund, initiated by students themselves, ensures that no student is left behind due to financial constraints. Over the years, this fund has provided crucial support to countless students, allowing them to pursue their academic endeavors with confidence.

Moreover, the impact of Indeewari extends beyond the university campus. Proceeds from the event also contribute to the “Reli Bimen Sama Bimata” program, aimed at uplifting educational opportunities in underprivileged schools across the country. Through seminars, revision classes, and paper discussions, faculty undergraduates actively engage with students in rural areas, striving to bridge the educational gap and empower the next generation.

As Indeewari 2024 approaches, the excitement is palpable. Set to take place on March 20th at the University gymnasium, the event promises a stellar lineup of artists, including Wayo, T.M. Jayarathne, Raini Charuka, and Indrachapa Liyanage. With Lochana Andramanna as the compere, attendees can expect an evening filled with entertainment and goodwill.

The success of Indeewari would not be possible without the generous support of sponsors and partners. Sunmik Foods, Synergen Health, CIC, Bio Green Technologies, Amila Transport, Derana, Lakehouse, Oak-ray, Sunquick, and Ambewela have all come forward to ensure the event’s success, highlighting their commitment to educational equality and community welfare.

As we look ahead to Indeewari 2024, let us celebrate the spirit of unity and generosity that defines this annual event. Together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of students and communities, fostering a brighter future for all.
