Repurpose packaging
Krys Charalambous launched an online fashion boutique Modella Clothing while working in a corporate role nearly a decade ago.

Collect points when you spend
Look for a card provider that rewards you with points every time you spend.
It’s a strategy that has worked well for Catherine Cervasio, who is the founder Australian-made organic skincare brand Aromababy. The points are often used to purchase gift cards, which can be used towards improving office amenities.
“We maximise rewards points by using cards for everyday purchases, to pay utilities and phone accounts and even to pay our suppliers. By building up points, we can use them to purchase airline rewards seats for business travel and pay for flight upgrades, which ensures an improved travel experience, too,” Cervasio says.
Before buying anything for her business, she also searches online for the best prices in printers, copiers, paper and other office supplies, and uses click and collect to minimise time away from the office, improving efficiency.
“We also recycle, reuse and purchase locally where possible, which minimises waste and packaging costs, and reduces are carbon footprint in the process,” she says.
For many business owners, reducing the regularly occurring costs can have a big impact on the bottom line.
