Heavy Morning Traffic Causes Delays on Dubai–Sharjah Routes

Commuters faced severe rush-hour delays across the UAE yesterday morning, with heavy traffic reported on major inter-emirate highways connecting Sharjah and Dubai, according to real-time updates from Google Maps.

The heaviest congestion was observed along the inbound lanes of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) and Emirates Road (E611), stretching from the Sharjah border through Muhaisnah and Mirdif. Motorists experienced prolonged stop-and-go conditions — a recurring challenge for Northern Emirates residents traveling to Dubai for work.

Within Dubai, key city routes were also affected. Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) saw slow-moving traffic, particularly between the World Trade Centre and Dubai Marina, while Al Khail Road (E44) suffered bottlenecks near Dubai Festival City and the Business Bay Corridor. Areas such as Al Quoz Industrial Area and Al Barsha also reported heavy vehicle movement, leading to congestion on internal feeder roads.

In Abu Dhabi, regular peak-hour slowdowns were reported near major entry points. Mussafah Bridge and Al Maqta Bridge both experienced heavy inbound traffic, with authorities maintaining a variable speed limit of 80 km/h on Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Mohammed Road following a recent accident. Drivers were reminded to follow digital speed signs for safety.

Meanwhile, motorists in Sharjah are being advised to prepare for a major operational update beginning November 1, as Sharjah Police will begin strict enforcement of dedicated traffic lanes for buses, trucks, and motorcycles — a measure aimed at improving traffic flow but expected to cause temporary adjustments in daily commutes.
