Global Tech Giant Cisco Renews Commitment to Rebounding Sri Lanka

Witnessing a promising rebound in Sri Lanka’s economy, the global technology leader Cisco is doubling down on its commitment to serve the burgeoning customer base in the island nation.

During her recent visit to Colombo, Daisy Chittilapilly, the President of Cisco India and SAARC, expressed optimism about Sri Lanka’s trajectory. “Sri Lanka is now very much on the rebound. There’s a sense of optimism and confidence in the country. It is great to be here and reinstate our commitment to Sri Lanka,” she stated in an exclusive interview with the Daily FT.

Despite facing challenges, Cisco’s relationship with Sri Lanka spans over two decades, a testament to its enduring commitment. “We have been with Sri Lanka through thick and thin. We are here to stay for the next phase of growth, development, and progress,” Chittilapilly affirmed.

Acknowledging the pivotal role of partners in its ecosystem, Cisco remains dedicated to serving its customers in Sri Lanka. With a vast network of resellers, Cisco continues to lead in networking hardware, software, telecommunications equipment, and other high-tech services and products.

The core purpose of Cisco is to drive an inclusive future by empowering customers to reimagine applications, enable hybrid work, secure enterprises, transform infrastructure, and meet sustainability goals.

Chittilapilly highlighted the constant evolution of technology, emphasizing Cisco’s leadership in security, observability, and automation. “There is a lot of AI capabilities in our tech,” she added.

Considering Sri Lanka as an important market, Chittilapilly emphasized the seamless adoption of technology in the country compared to global trends. “Anything that we offer to any customer worldwide is readily available in Sri Lanka,” she asserted.

With aspirations to become a knowledge-driven economy, Sri Lanka’s digital transformation journey is well underway. Chittilapilly emphasized the importance of talent development and skilling initiatives, especially in cybersecurity, IoT, and AI.

Furthermore, she welcomed Sri Lanka’s collaboration with India on Unified Payments Interface (UPI), foreseeing accelerated digital adoption in the country.

Addressing the global technology shifts, Chittilapilly highlighted the convergence of AI and cybersecurity as crucial in securing interconnected networks. She stressed the significance of digitalization in core sectors like energy, healthcare, and agriculture, driving sustainable growth.

In managing public sector transformation, Chittilapilly underscored the importance of skills development and highlighted augmented AI as a key conversation in the tech industry.

Transitioning from intent to accountability, Cisco prioritizes sustainability, aiming to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030. Leveraging innovative solutions, Cisco seeks to enhance energy efficiency and productivity while addressing sustainability concerns.

As technology continues to shape inclusive futures, Cisco remains committed to positively impacting lives worldwide, including in the Indian South Asia region, through initiatives focused on economic empowerment, women and child welfare, and climate sustainability.
