Journey
He was surrounded by choral music from a young age. After leaving Sri Lanka his passion for music remained strong, leading him to join local choirs in Australia. He eventually became a member of prestigious choirs such as the Victoria Welsh Choir.
Last year, he founded a new choir called Euphony Choir, which includes Euphony Kids, Euphony Band, Orchestra, and Voices. His talent was further recognized at the beginning of this year, he was appointed as the director of the Victoria Welsh Choir. This appointment marks the first time a Sri Lankan has taken on the role of conductor in the choir’s 45-year history.
Challenges
Talent often goes unnoticed, and for community-based choirs, financial challenges are a constant struggle. However, with a dedicated and passionate team working tirelessly, the results have always been exceptional. Their hard work and determination continue to shine through, overcoming obstacles and achieving greatness.
Achievements
Euphony , though a newer choir, has already made a remarkable impact in the local community. Exciting plans are underway for a performance with Bathiya & Santhush in October. Additionally, a few songs are set to release on Spotify, with recording already completed. The choir has performed at multiple venues across Melbourne and had the honour of singing for the Sri Lankan Governor-General. He also has exciting plans to bring Euphony and the Victorian Welsh Choir to Sri Lanka next year.
Life Outside Music
Outside of the choir, he is the COO of a health company, where he has closely collaborated with the Victorian government on COVID-19 vaccination efforts. As a senior executive , Dr he maintains a remarkable balance between his medical career and his musical endeavors.
