First-ever gem-related website in Sri Lanka launched

The first-ever gem-related website in Sri Lanka was officially launched yesterday (15) in Ratnapura during the inauguration of the Gem and Jewellery Exhibition 2025 by Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya.

The official website – www.gemcityratnapura.com, aims to promote Sri Lanka’s gem and jewellery sector globally, providing a platform for trade, information, and industry networking.

Addressing the event, the Prime Minister said that Sri Lanka is strengthening links with international gem and jewellery associations in the USA, China, Thailand, India, and Switzerland to enhance the country’s global standing. “I am pleased to know that several of these international partners are also represented here today,” she added.

Moreover she said that  government is committed to creating stable conditions and has set an ambitious target of USD 1 billion in export revenue for the sector.
