Eyebuydirect’s Desert Dreaming Collection Will Get You Through Festival Season

[ad_1]

Did you know that eyewear can have a huge impact? The vast majority of glasses are made from materials like metals, nylon, and plastic. That’s what makes Eyebuydirect’s new launch all the more intriguing.

Earlier this month, Eyebuydirect launched its RFLKT Desert Dreaming collection with a desert-themed event that I attended on behalf of Teen Vogue in Joshua Tree. The brand is looking to make the glasses-wearing experience even better by supporting a more sustainable future.

The new line, which is marketed as a more eco-friendly alternative, features 13 stunning eyeglasses and sunglasses in earthy, vibrant hues inspired by the desert’s natural beauty and colors. You can get your frames of choice with or without a prescription and each style also comes in two colorways. However, one of the most unique parts of this launch is the materials used to construct pieces in the collection. Each frame is crafted from bio-acetate, which is a material extracted from cellulose acetate flakes (cotton or wood), and bio-based plasticizers (a biodegradable and renewable alternative to phthalate plasticizers) that helps give the frames flexibility.

According to the brand, the frames were able to achieve a 50% rate of biodegradability under controlled composting conditions during a testing period that lasted for 150 days (meaning 50% of the bio-acetate material fully decomposed). This is a big difference from traditional plastics, which generally take years to break down (according to the brand, a plastic bottle can take anywhere between 450 – 1000 years). In addition, all the packaging and yellow protective cases are also made from recycled materials. Eyebuydirect’s mission is to make quality eyewear accessible to everyone while also making an impact with collections, ranging from wood to bio-nylon and recycled plastic collections.

“Our focus at Eyebuydirect is to provide our customers with choice. With over 3,000 styles, we are committed to expanding choice by offering eco-conscious eyewear,” says Branden Maes, Senior Brand Marketing Manager at Eyebuydirect to Teen Vogue. “The Desert Dreaming collection helps us achieve our goal of expanding our selection in a way that provides eco-conscious options without compromising style and affordability,” he adds.

The cool shapes and silhouettes in the line are another bonus! You’ll find bold oversized sunnies (Dawn is my favorite), retro throwback shades (hello Everest!), and elevated everyday optical lenses. There’s no shortage of cute styles to check out and we happen to think they’ll pair perfectly with all your upcoming festival outfit looks.

Everything in the collection is priced at $70 and under, and you can shop the new collection directly on Eyebuydirect’s site. Check out some of our favorite sunnies below:
