Expo City Dubai has taken a major step forward in the development of Al Waha Residences with the appointment of two leading contractors, keeping the residential project firmly on track for completion in 2027.
ARCO Group has been selected to carry out construction works in the Mobility District, while Al Futtaim Contracting will oversee delivery in the Opportunity District. The scope of work across both districts includes mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services, landscaping, and interior fit-outs.
The Al Waha Residences development will comprise over 500 one- and two-bedroom apartments and duplex lofts, distributed across 42 buildings. The project repurposes key infrastructure from Expo 2020 Dubai, transforming it into a contemporary residential community that prioritises sustainability, walkability, and modern urban living.
The residences are shaded by the iconic Al Waha canopies and are located within walking distance of Expo City’s central amenities, supporting a community-focused and pedestrian-friendly lifestyle.
Commenting on the progress, Ahmed Al Khatib, Chief Development and Delivery Officer at Expo City Dubai, said the contractor appointments represent a significant milestone. He added that Al Waha is a central element of Expo City’s long-term vision as a sustainable urban destination designed for permanent residents.
Al Waha Residences form part of Expo City Dubai’s expanding residential portfolio, which also includes Expo Valley villas and townhouses, Mangrove Residences, Sky Residences, Sidr Residences, and Expo Valley Views.
Strategically located between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Expo City Dubai offers direct access to Al Maktoum International Airport, Jebel Ali Port, and the Dubai Exhibition Centre. The development aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).
