Today marks the commencement of the 26th session of the Joint Commission between Sri Lanka and the European Union in Brussels. Chaired by Secretary Aruni Wijewardane and EU Deputy Managing Director Paola Pampaloni, the meeting brings together senior officials from Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Attorney General’s Department, and Ministry of Finance. This platform facilitates dialogue on diverse topics, including trade, investments, development assistance, fisheries, education, counter-terrorism, governance, human rights, Indo-Pacific & maritime security, and the environment. The Joint Commission will receive reports from three Working Groups covering Governance, Rule of Law and Human Rights, Trade and Economic Cooperation, and Development Cooperation.
