Etihad Rail has unveiled new details of the UAE’s national passenger railway network, marking a key step toward the launch of passenger services in 2026. The network will link 11 cities and regions through a series of strategically located stations, creating the country’s first fully connected passenger rail system aimed at improving mobility for residents, tourists, and commuters.
Following the earlier announcement of stations in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah, Etihad Rail has now confirmed additional stations in Al Sila’, Al Dhannah, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezaira’a, Al Faya and Al Dhaid. These will open in stages as the network expands.
Etihad Rail officials highlighted the project’s role in supporting the UAE’s long-term transport vision. They noted that the system is designed to enhance connectivity, strengthen the economy, and offer a reliable and sustainable alternative to road travel. The fleet features modern trains equipped with Wi-Fi, power outlets, and ergonomic seating, ensuring comfort and efficiency.
The first phase will connect major hubs including Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Jumeirah Golf Estates, University City, and the Al Hilal district. Ten of the 13 trains have already arrived and undergone rigorous testing, each capable of carrying up to 400 passengers.
The development reflects more than three years of planning and construction involving thousands of specialists. Beyond improving mobility, the passenger rail network is expected to boost domestic tourism, reduce congestion and emissions, and bring the Emirates closer together through faster, smoother intercity travel.
