Emmanuel Macron Starts Mumbai Visit with Morning Jog at Marine Drive

French President Emmanuel Macron began his official visit to Mumbai with a morning jog at the iconic Marine Drive, marking the start of a high-profile diplomatic engagement with India.

French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Mumbai early Tuesday and started his day with a jog along the famous Marine Drive promenade, accompanied by his security personnel. Mumbai Police maintained tight security in the area during the visit.

Later in the day, President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron paid floral tributes to the victims of the November 2008 terror attacks at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in south Mumbai. The gesture highlighted France’s solidarity with India in remembering the tragic incident.

President Macron is scheduled to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Lok Bhavan in south Mumbai, where the two leaders will review the progress of the India–France strategic partnership. Their discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation into new and emerging sectors.

Both leaders are also expected to exchange views on regional and global issues, reaffirming their commitment to deepening diplomatic and strategic collaboration.

President Macron is on an official visit to India from February 17 to 19 at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi. He is attending the AI Impact Summit hosted by India and participating in a bilateral summit in Mumbai. This marks his fourth visit to India and his first visit to Mumbai.

Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed the French President upon his arrival at Mumbai airport.
